If you’re married or in a relationship, you know very well that Valentine’s Day activities change every year. One year you might have been bitten by the love bug and want to do everything! While others, you just want to stay home in your sweatpants and veg out together. If you’re feeling spontaneous this Valentine’s Day, get dressed, we’re going out!
April and I have handpicked some of our all-time favorite local restaurants to add to your Valentine’s Day or any date night festivities. They’re the perfect dinner destination! Part of being in the real estate game is keeping up with all the latest food trends and the greatest new restaurants. This is definitely in our arena!
Five Guys could and should be an every week type of date night. Unfortunately, our waistlines would be upset with us if we listened to our inner food soul. If you are a fan of simple but delicious diner food, this is for you. Even more so, if you’re a burger and fries with a pop type of person, Five Guys would easily make the perfect Valentine’s Date evening. April always gets a single cheeseburger and I go for the double and we split the fries. If you’re looking for more of a casual night out, April and I would point you towards Five Guys. You don’t even have to share your fries! Check out their locations in Grandville, Grand Rapids, and Comstock Park!
They say it best, where Nashville Heat meets Michigan Neat.
If you can take the heat and as a southern style meal, take a look at Hancock located on Wealthy in Grand Rapids. Their rehabbed historic service venue takes you right to Nashville. I get the spicy chicken sandwich and April likes the non-spicy version (she adds a sweet pepper sauce from Saucing It Up for extra flavor). Plus, the service is just as good as their food! Valentine’s Day or not, Hancock is worth a visit! Let us know you’re favorites!
This one is for all you pizza lovers!
A perfect date night for April and I definitely include great home-style pizza. Located in East Grand Rapids, Andreas Pizza will satisfy all your Italian foodie needs! This locally-owned resturant has been in business for the last 50 years and their dedication to quality service is definitely something to take note of! Whether you choose to dine in or carry out, you won’t be disappointed. I like their deluxe pizza and Ape’s a fan of the Italian sub.
You’ll find the next restaurant we love right in Wyoming, Michigan.
This recently remodeled Chicago-style restaurant had us feeling like we were living the Windy City Life! Definitely where they get the name, Windy Cindy Grille! If you check out their Facebook page @windycitygrille, you’ll get a preview of some of the awesomeness they serve up daily. Our go-to’s are the gyros, both lamb and chicken along with curly fries. Dine-in or get your meal and head back home to the couch, either way, this is a great option to get another city life meal option, without the price of the city! They also cater and offer the BEST chocolate chip cookies!
One of our first picks and personal favorites is Bowdie’s Chop House!
They have a few different locations in Lower Michigan, East Grand Rapids, Lansing, and their Saugatuck roots. If you enjoy a city type atmosphere, you’ll want to make a stop at Bowdie’s. They offer different types of seafood as well as their famous Prime Rib for a tasteful and elegant night for two. You can’t beat their steaks. However, the main attraction in Grand Rapids might just be their wine. From Cabernet to Old World wines, they have an array of them all. If you make a stop here, let us know! We’d love to exchange over our favorite key lime pie!
We hope that one of these restaurants sweeps you and your lovebird off your feet into a fun night with good food. Now that you’ve got all the secret gems in the area, it’s up to you (and your taste buds) to decide where you go. April and I make it a point to spend our evenings together over dinner, and we love the opportunity to share them with you! If you have any recommendations for us, we’d love to hear them. Drop a comment or give us a call! If there’s one thing we love as much as real estate, it is definitely good food. After all, leftovers don’t exist with food this good.
